Welcome to the Bexhill Festival of Music 2018

So here we are in our twelfth year of celebrating music within our community with the emphasis on our own local talent - together with a sprinkling of internationally-renowned performers.

We welcome back, to the De La Warr Pavilion, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with their exciting “Colourful Classics” Concert. In addition, Richard Durrant is back with his “Stringhenge Album” recital. His British Isles’ tour, which starts in the Isles of Orkney earlier in the month, concludes here in Bexhill on Sea, with Richard travelling between concerts on his beloved push-bike!

The Sussex Concert Orchestra, packed with local brilliant talent and under the baton of Kenneth Roberts, features twice this year, with a concert in St Peter’s Church and the Last Night of the Bexhill Proms at the De La Warr Pavilion. This event brings our Festival to a rousing end and is an important fundraiser for us: your support would be appreciated.

More local musical groups and performers have come forward this year, contributing to a significant growth in the number of events in the town. We are particularly pleased to re-introduce The Summer Big Sing at the De La Warr Pavilion, where our local schools and colleges come together for an evening of music and singing. We thank Bexhill College and the Bexhill Lions for their support and assistance: without this the event would not be going ahead.

The trustees would also like to thank the advertisers in the programme; the income from these is an important part of our fund raising effort. In addition, thanks go to the De La Warr Pavilion, Rother District Council, Gaby Hardwicke, McPhersons and No48 Devonshire Road for their continued help and support in making this year’s Festival happen.

If you wish to be part of next year’s 2019 Festival, please contact us, as planning is well under way.

You are the other important ingredient for a successful Festival. Please attend as many events as you can. We look forward to seeing you.

Brian Beeston

Chairman
