DESCRIPTION:Sussex Day was first celebrated in Bexhill more than a century ago in 1917. Come along to the Coronation Bandstand and enjoy Sussex Day 2026 with music by two of Bexhill’s favourite local bands. \n12:30pm-1:30pm\nAlbatross Ukulele Band\nBased at the Albatross Club we enjoy regular social meet-ups at the club and playing for
 fun to local audiences. \n2:15pm-3:30pm\nBodiam Concert Band\nA community wind band formed in the 1980s and now based in Hawkhurst. About 30 regular players meet weekly to rehearse a wide range of music under the direction of its conductor John Cornford. The repertoire it enjoys includes light classics\, selections from stage and screen\, traditional military band works and popular music past and present. The band performs at various events in Kent and East Sussex throughout the year and holds occasional concerts.

DESCRIPTION:The Bexhill Classical Guitar Society’s second recital this season welcomes the Colombian guitarist Francisco Correa\, who has been praised by Gramophone for his “eloquence” and by Soundboard Magazine for his “beautiful and expressive interpretation.” Recognised for his captivating performances and versatility\, Francisco has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in over 20 countries across the UK\, Europe\, and South America. Recently\, Francisco was named an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM) in London for his significant contribution to the musical profession and to the guitar\, in recognition of his distinguished career as a performer\, recording artist\, and cultural ambassador. \nThe event is free to enter\, with donations requested to help support the society. DESCRIPTION:The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & De La Warr Pavilion present Royal Philharmonic Orchestra play Tchaikovsky\, Sibelius and Dvořák. \nAs part of their Bexhill summer takeover\, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra returns to the De La Warr Pavilion under the baton of Associate Conductor Emilia Hoving to perform Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with rising star Hana Chang. A work full of fire and ferocity\, both soloist and orchestra have the chance to dazzle in one of the most enduring concertos of the violin repertoire. \nBefore that\, there is a chance to hear Sibelius’ stirring Finlandia. Written when Finland was part of the Russian Empire and struggling for independence\, it swiftly became a rallying cry for the Finnish people and a symbol of patriotism across the world. \nThe Orchestra closes the concert with Dvořák’s seminal work\, Symphony No.9\, ‘From the New World’. Famous for its use in the iconic 1973 TV ad for Hovis\, the music features echoes of the Native American and early African American folk traditions. The tune that runs throughout the piece so perfectly captures the flavour of the United States that it is often described as an original American folk tune. \nLocated in the Auditorium. SUMMARY:The Band of the Royal British Legion
DESCRIPTION:The Band of the Royal British Legion (Bexhill and Little Common)\, to give the full title\, are delighted to be taking part in the Festival of Music once again for 2026. The band has a happy blend of ex-armed services and civilian musicians\, who enjoy rehearsing together in Bexhill and are kept busy playing at events and concerts\, some with a military or Royal British Legion connection and others purely supporting local events. The programme for the Festival concert includes an imaginative array of music\, ranging from light classical\, through West End musicals\, to some catchy arrangements of 20th century hits\, all selected by the band’s Musical Director Martin Bunce AGSM. \nDoors open 7.30\, starts 8pm. Tickets are £3 and will be available on the door or in advance from the Club bar. The bar will be available to concertgoers.

Having spent years honing their craft in a shed\, the Brothers finally came outside and unleashed a heady concoction of explosive drumming\, vintage TV themes\, wailing sax and joie de vivre. \nThe ‘Jolly Boys’\, Ticehurst Male Voice Singers – 1pm-1.30pm\nThe Jolly Boys\, formed in 2023\, are a group of like minded men who enjoy singing Sea Shanties\, though they also cover a wide range of other styles including traditional folk\, popular music\, Christmas songs\, Old Time Music Hall songs and other sing along material. \nSevenoaks and Tonbridge Concert Band – 2.20pm-3pm & 3.20pm-4pm \nThe Sevenoaks & Tonbridge Concert Band is a symphonic wind band\, based in Sevenoaks\, Kent\, with its players drawn from a wide area\, and performs at a range of concert venues across the region. Their repertoire is selected to fit the different audiences for each concert. The music includes original works for wind ensemble to arrangements of orchestral pieces\, musical theatre and film score repertoire\, traditional military band items and light music of various styles. \nIan Hamilton Trio Blues – Starts 4.30pm\nThe Ian Hamilton Trio play an eclectic mix of folk music and America often with a unique twist.

DESCRIPTION:Crescendo is a mixed choir group with a wonderful variety of songs so something for everyone to enjoy on our first visit to the Festival. Our Choirmaster Debs Chambers will lead you through the evening with her characteristic repartee ably assisted by our very talented accompanist Stephen Page. Crescendo is also delighted to be joined by their guest performers\, Radiant Brass\, performing their sparkling brass arrangements. \nAs a very friendly community of singers we are always happy to welcome new members.
